HAFIZABAD - The police have been rounded up as many as 20 workers of defunct organizations during a special crackdown across the district. Those arrested included Qari Shabbir Ahmad of Madhrianwala, M Irfan of Chak Chatha, Liaquat of Gali Arianwali, Zia Ullah of Dharanwali, Muhammad Javed of Rasoolpur, Abdul Jabbar of Sukheki, Muhammad Iqbal of Chak Mauloo. They were detained for one month and sent to jail.

Meanwhile, the Hafizabad DCO has convened the meeting of District Peace Committee in the District Nazim Hall on July 18. The meeting would be attended among others by MNA, MPAs, Ulema of different sects and other members of the committee.
Fake case flayed: The press club office-bearers have condemned fake case against Union of Journalists Kasur District President Sardar Sharif Sohdal.  In a joint statement, on Monday, the Changa Manga Press Club members included Asghar Ali Bhatti, Rana Mansoor Ahmad, Ch Khalid Riaz, Ch Riaz Ahmad, Raja Nabeel Kiani and Imran Daar.
 said that the Kasur A-Division Police had registered a case to punish the journalist for filing stories against the police.
They demanded the Punjab Chief Minister and the IG Police to look into the matter and order cancellation of the FIR. They also demanded action against the responsible police officials.
