Addressing a press conference at Sindh Secretariat, he said that it was the joint responsibility of all allies of the govt to restore peace in the city.
He said that traders’ delegation today briefed the Sindh CM about law and order situation and presented their proposals, which had been accepted by the chief executive of the province.
He pointed out that Karachi’s law and order problem being created under a planed scheme by anti-democratic and anti-human peoples, while government will face them with iron hands.
Memon said that targeted-killings and extortion were old problem of Karachi, which was not specific to only one area of the metropolis.
He informed the media that the government was aware of the situation, while law enforcement agencies also taking efforts, who has arrested number of criminals in city.
Information minister said that government had decided to issue arms’ licences to the traders through their registered trade bodies, so it could not be misused. To a question, Memon said that government had not released any criminal on someone’s request nor any political party had contacted the government for release of criminals who arrested on their involvement in the target killings in city.
He declared that if any party approached for release of such criminals, the government will not accept such demand.
Minister said that rangers’ is not burden on the provincial government, but its performance was incredible, which arrested number of criminals who arrested in targeted killings, adding that it was the reason that rangers’ personnel were also targeted by criminals.
He said that protests and shutter down strikes were not solution of problems.
He said that the maintenance of law and order is the priority of the present democratic government. The minister pointed out that Karachi is the commercial and economic hub of the country and that due attention is being paid towards its development and law and order.
Sharjeel Inam Memon further said hat there are certain vested interests that want to mar the peace in Karachi. However, such nefarious designs would be frustrated.
He also asked the traders to keep an eye on the activities of the miscreants and that security arrangements of the business centres should be improved. The Minister also assured that the government would provide protection to the traders. He added that every incident of murder was not targeted killing.
