KARACHI - Eight people, including a director education and a local PPP leader, were gunned down in separate violent incidents in different parts of the city here on Tuesday.
Schools Education Local Bodies’ Karachi Director Shamim Khan, 48, was on his way to home from office when unidentified gunmen, riding a motorbike, intercepted his car and sprayed bullets on it near Jail Chowrangi within the remits of the Jamshaid Quarter Police Station. Investigators said the vicitm used to work as director of the Schools’ Education Local Bodies, Karachi, and had managed to get the position after a long suspension. Police shifted the victim to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injures during treatment. The cause of his murder has yet to be ascertained while body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
A local leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was gunned down in Disalwa Town within the jurisdiction of Shara-e-Noor Jahan police station. Police said that the victim namely Sajjad Balti,40, son of Shamsuddin, a resident of same area was standing outside at mechanic shop situated near his residence where unidentified assailants riding on a motorbike came and sprayed bullets on him. The assailants managed to flee from the spot while victim sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where doctors handed over the body to the family after autopsy.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was shot dead near Five Star Chorangi within the precincts of PS Hyderi police station. Police said that the victim namely Mohammad shafiq, a resident of Bufferzone, was going somewhere with his wife on a motorbike when two armed riders came close to him and killed him. The victim received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. The victim was posted in North Nazimabad police station. After getting information, police rushed on the spot and shifted the body to ASH for postmortem and later handed over to his heirs.
Two men were gunned down near Crown Cinema within the limits of Kalri police station. Police said that that the victims were standing at said place where unidentified culprits riding on a motorbike came close to them and sprayed bullets. The victims sustained bullet injures and died before they reached to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
The bodies of both victims were yet to be identified and shifted morgue after medico-legal formalities. A body of a man found from Lyari River within the remits of Docks police station.
Police said that the victim was tortured and shot dead before his body was thrown at the said place by unidentified culprits.
Police said the body was at least four days old, and identification of the victim could not be ascertained. Police removed the body at morgue for identification after autopsy at CHK.
Another body of a man found from Behaar Colony within the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station. Police said that the victim could not be identified while unidentified culprits kidnapped him and threw his body at the said place after killing. Police said that deceased belonged to Baloch community.
They shifted the body at CHK for postmortem and later moved to morgue for identification. A man shot dead near Time Medical within the precincts of New Town police station.
Police said that the victims identified as Ahmed Ibrahim,65, a resident of PECHS was going somewhere when unidentified assailants riding on a motorbike came and opened fire on him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family.
