KARACHI – An anti-terrorism court on Thursday sent Shahrukh Jatoi along with Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Mustafa Lashari on seven-day remand in the Shahzeb Khan murder case. Counsel for Shahrukh, the main accused, appealed that his client was an adolescent; therefore he not be tried in the court. To verify his age, the court directed that Shahrukh be sent to the Services Hospital for a medical examination. Earlier, Shahrukh Jatoi, who was shifted from Abu Dhabi to Karachi in the morning, was produced in the ATC complex. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Niaz Ahmed Khoso said he was given the task of arresting Shahrukh, adding that he was unaware of any information concerning the arrest of former Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) chief Tauqir Sadiq. Shahrukh was brought to Karachi through an aircraft of a private airline that landed on Terminal 1 instead of Jinnah Terminal. Terminal 1 is usually used for Haj flights. He was shifted to the Police Headquarters in Karachi’s Garden area through an armoured personnel carrier (APC) amid tight security arrangements.Shahrukh had surrendered himself to the authorities at the Pakistani consulate in Dubai. He was shifted to Karachi as soon as a go-ahead was received from the Interpol, police officials said, adding that Jatoi’s physical remand would soon be obtained from the court.
