SIALKOT - People belonging to various walks of life expressed their deep concern over the rough attitude of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited staff towards the public and criticised ‘corrupt’ staffers.

They alleged that local office had become a hub of corruption as applicants always found busy bargaining with the staffers for getting connections by hook or by crook in Sialkot and Narowal districts. When contacted, Departmental Committee on Sui Gas Chairman Muhammad Anwar endorsed the complaints and said that they wer face multiple problems at the office.
The department is earning revenue of billions of rupees annually from both the districts even then it is being run in rented buildings, he said. Anwar said that the high ups should construct its own building to facilitate the consumers. He added that a separate office should be established in Narowal district for handling the complaints of the consumers at their doorsteps. The setting up of office in Narowal will not only help reduce traveling difficulties but also support timely resolution of the complaints, he said. He alleged that most of the staffers were corrupt and money making as well as involved in granting illegal connections whereas the genuine applicants being deprived of the facility. In addition, the local office was creating problems by serving inflated bills to the consumers as well as demanding security from consumers on old connections, he said.
