A hand grenade has exploded outside a paramilitary bunker in Held Kashmir, injuring at least five Indian soldiers. Police blamed the freedom fighters for the attack Sunday in Sopore town. No group has claimed responsibility, and no suspects have been arrested. Sopore police chief Imtiyaz Hussain says one of the wounded soldiers is in critical condition. The Indian-occupied Kashmir remains tense after authorities suppressed an uprising that began in 1989.
About 68,000 people died in the struggle against the Indian rule and ensuing crackdowns.
