QUAIDABAD - Besides multifarious problems caused by the worst electricity loadshedding, the inhabitants of Quaidabad Tehsil and its surroundings are compelled to buy ice at the rate Rs50 per kg in the prevailing scorching heat.

According to a survey conducted by The Nation, the inhabitant of Quaidabad city and its suburbs have been braving not only loadshedding up to 22 hours but also its subsequent problems. The scorching heat and the prolonged power outages has proved to be lucrative for the ice sellers who are making hay while the sun is shining well on the poor masses.  On the other hand, Ice factories owners are of the view that they are unable to produce the required quantity of ice. That’s why the price of ice per kg has surged to Rs50,” they explained.
The life has become very difficult for the masses as they are finding solace from nowhere.
Meanwhile, the representatives Anjuman-e-Tajran Quaidabad Khalil Sardar, Malik Qasim Yar Uttra, Abdus sattar and Haji Mohammad Iqbal have warned that if worst loadshedding is not stopped and its duration not rationalised, the traders would be compelled to take to roads for getting what they called “justice”.
Meanwhile, local social personalities including Malik Mohammad Asad Uttra, Malik Namatullah Uttra, Nasrullah Gunjial and Zafar Iqbal Dhudhi stated that the crippling power outages had not only destroyed the economy of people but also peace of rural life. They lamented that in big cities the duration of outages had been shortened, shifting the entire burden to people of remote and rural areas. They appealed to the government to take pity on the poor masses and at least rationalise the outages duration.
