LAHORE – The incident that occurred outside a bakery in Defence took an important turn on Wednesday night when on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, his son-in-law Ali Imran surrendered to police for ensuring transparent investigation and fulfilling the demands of justice.
Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif had directed his son-in-law to join the investigation and ordered the Punjab Police to fulfill legal demands without any discrimination. The local police, after recording the statement of Ali Imran, arrested him. According to a handout issued by Punjab government on Wednesday, this is for the first time in the history of the country that the chief of a province had not only shown commitment to ensure the supremacy of law and provide justice to the oppressed but also left his nearest relative at the mercy of law instead of giving him any concession.
This is the only example of its kind in which the supremacy of justice was ensured instead of favouring nepotism.
