Washington : The US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman is due to arrive in Pakistan by the end of current week for dialogue over various ongoing issues. According to US State Department spokesperson, Grossman during his visit would follow up on the discussion between Pakistani and US leadership on key issues raised during high-profile meetings in Washington and New York last month.
The statement noticed that his trip builds on recent engagements, including Hillary Clinton’s meetings with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Washington and President Asif Ali Zardari in New York, as well as the recent US-Pakistan Law-Enforcement and Counterterrorism Working Group convened in Washington, DC on October 5.
Ambassador Marc Grossman is currently on a visit to Turkish capital, Ankara where he attended meeting of the International Contact Group (ICG) for Afghanistan.
The meeting of the ICG focused on the status of Afghan and international commitments on security and development following the Chicago NATO Summit and the Tokyo Conference.
The ICG member countries also planned to discuss international support for transition planning and an Afghan-led political process.
