Zilhaj moon sighted; Eidul Azha on 27th


KARACHI  - The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the ‘Zilhaj’ moon has been sighted and Eidul Azha would be celebrated on October 27.
A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi and was headed by Mufti Munibur Rehman. The meeting was also attended by Sparco, Navy and Metrological Department representatives.
After receiving evidence from many cities, the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman announced that the moon has been sighted clearly in several parts of the country, including in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, so Eidul Azha will be celebrated on October 27.
Earlier, the Met department said in a statement that the crescent would be seen easily as the sky was clear in most parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the authorities in United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday the sighting of the Zilhaj moon and that Eidul Azha will be celebrated on October 26. The governments there had also announced four holidays on the occasion of Eid. Zilhaj moon was also sighted in Bangladesh.
