GUJAR KHAN - First Lady Begum Nusrat Pervaiz Ashraf on Saturday urged women not to forget the less-privileged and the destitute on Eidul Fitr and share with them the joys of the festive occasion.
Addressing PPP women councillors and workers at a Mehfil-e-Milad here, Begum Nusrat said the real happiness of Eid was in helping the poor and the needy.
She called upon the women workers of Pakistan People’s Party to follow the mission of their great leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who focused on the welfare of masses. She said that the women could play an important role by sensitisimg their families with the values of love and affinity with humanity.
Begum Nusrat distributed 200 sewing machines among the needy women to help them earn livelihood with dignity.
Earlier the First Lady joined other women at the Mehfil-e-Milad and paid respects to the last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) by offering Durood-o-Salam.
The orators highlighted the Usswa-e-Hasana (lifestyle) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) featuring love for the mankind. Prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country and the unity of Muslim Ummah.
