Terror plan to be foiled with coordinated efforts: Malik

ISLAMABAD- Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday said that a plan to destabilise Pakistan would be foiled through coordinated efforts of agencies concerned and support of the masses.
Speaking to media representatives, he said “A conspiracy was hatched against the solidarity of Pakistan, its people and armed forces. I had already informed the nation about blueprint of plan and people saw this unfolding during last few days.” “Terrorist attack at Kamra Airbase, killing of passengers at Babusar Top Pass and bomb blast in Karachi were part of the conspiracy to demoralise people of Pakistan and to destabilise the country,” he explained.
The minister claimed that many likely incidents of terrorism have been averted due to his timely intimation to related police departments.
He said an elaborated and effective security plan is in place for Eidul Fitr to ensure maintenance of peace. Police and Rangers personnel would be deployed at sensitive places, security of mosques will be beefed up and helicopter monitoring will also be undertaken, Malik informed.
The interior minister said as a result of steps being taken by the government, situation in Balochistan is improving and people are fully aware of who is working against interests of the country. Commenting on Kamra Airbase attack, Malik said nine attackers have been identified. “All of them are Pakistanis and authorities have complete details about their activities and links. Pakistan Air Force, Punjab Police and FIA are investigating the attack,” he added.
He said the interior ministry has not issued any licence to any private detective agency in Karachi. “If someone is working illegally…they will soon be sent behind the bars,” he added.
