Seminar on bioinformatics skills ends

FAISALABAD - Bioinformatics and Biotechnology have great contributions in the disciplines of life science, said Dr Zakir Hussain while addressing the concluding ceremony of a daylong training workshop on "Basic Bioinformatics Skills" at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) here the other day.GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir emphasized on the fact that bioinformatics and biotechnology had great contributions in the disciplines of life sciences, especially the health and agriculture. The training workshop was organized by the Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology GCUF in collaboration with National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) and Pakistan and Technical Expert Network (TEN), Singapore. The workshop was attended by more than 45 participants representing various academic and research organizations across Pakistan. The VC also appreciated the efforts of the NAYS and BNB for bringing the young scientists of Pakistan at forefront and expressed his hope that this collaboration of BNB department and NAYS will bring more such fruitful events at GCUF. Furthermore, he said that he has a strong believe that the future of Pakistan is in the hands of Young Scientists and Researchers and his doors are always open for any viable and fruitful idea.Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi, the Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, while addressing also highlighted the importance of integrative sciences in modern era. The convener Dr. Shahid Nadeem, the Chairman Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology (BNB) appreciated the efforts of his faculty members, NAYS and TEN for the successful organization of the event.
