KHYBER AGENCY – Six militants and two civilians were killed and scores sustained injuries as jet planes launched airstrikes on militants hideouts in Akakhel area of Tirah valley in Khyber Agency. Official and local sources said on Thursday morning the jet fighters pounded hideouts of the militants in Tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency and inflicted heavy casualties on them. Six militants were killed and 12 others wounded. Four militants’ dens were also destroyed in the operation, they added. Two tribesmen Amal Khan and Bashir were also killed and four others sustained injuries in the strikes, locals said.Three houses of local tribesmen were also damaged in the action. However the claim could not be verified. It is learnt that the airattacks against militants was launched after scores of terrorist attacks in Peshawar and its surrounding areas claiming dozens of innocent lives, sources said.It merits mentioning here that Tirah valley is a remote area located on the Western border with Afghanistan.
