ISLAMABAD - The two-day trade talks between Pakistan and India would start from Thursday (tomorrow) in Islamabad wherein three agreements relating to Customs cooperation, mutual recognition of required standards and the mechanism to address grievances would likely to be signed.
Sources informed The Nation that two-days trade talks between Pakistan and India would start from September 20th in which Secretaries Commerce of both countries would represent their sides.
The trade talks were earlier scheduled on September 12 and 13 in Islamabad, which was postponed for a week on the request of Pakistani government and now it would be held on September 20 and 21.
Sources further informed that Pakistan and India would also discuss the matters of granting Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India in the upcoming talks.  Pakistan is all set to give MFN status to India from the next year January 2013 by eliminating the negative list consisting 1209 items.
Similarly, sources said that discussions regarding the import of 500 mw electricity from India to Pakistan would also take place in the upcoming talks. Likewise, the import of petroleum products will also be discussed, including trade of LNG, as India is also interested in selling this product to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and India would also discuss the issues relating to the trade from border and other venues.
