The shortfall of electricity production reached to 5500 megawatt in the country resulting in the load shedding of almost 10 hours in the urban areas and 18 hours in rural areas of the country, sources said on Monday.

PEPCO stated that federal finance ministry had issued Rs 6 billion to the PSO that would help improve the situation. The PSO had abandoned the supply of oil to the power houses.
Meanwhile protests erupted in various cities across the country where people took onto streets for unavailability of power for more than 18 hours a day.
In Kotli, hundreds protesters stormed WAPDA and other government building by throwing stones and burning public properties.
Police restored Lathicharge and fired tear gas shells to control annoyed crowd as a result many protesters sustained injuries.
