Putin offers condolences over Quetta killings

Islamabad  - Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Andrey S Budnik called on President Asif Ali Zardari here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday and delivered a letter from President Vladimir Putin expressing condolences over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack in Quetta. Senator Farhatullah Babar said President Putin described the terrorist attack as barbaric and “a criminal act ”.
“We also support the efforts of the government of your country in the fight against terrorism and extremism”, the letter said.
The Russian president in his letter also conveyed sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of those killed and wished speedy recovery to all those injured.
President Zardari thanked the ambassador and asked him to also convey his thanks and appreciation to the Russian president for his gesture.
President Zardari, on the occasion, said Pakistan considered Russia as a source of stability and peace both at regional and global level and underlined the need to further strengthen relations and increased contacts at the highest level.
The president also hosted a lunch for the Russian ambassador.
