PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Saturday demanded the federal government to return all platoons of Frontier Constabulary so that terrorists could be prevented from interfering in tribal areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain claimed that the government has obtained a vital achievement in war against terrorism, adding that the provincial Home Department has formulated a strategy to stem the wave of terrorism.
The action on the fresh strategy is currently in progress in phases, he added.
Secretary Home Department Azam Khan said contingents of Frontier Constabulary are urgently needed to stop terrorists' infiltration in tribal areas, as only 179 out of 530 FC platoons are functioning in the province and the remaining 351 are working under the federal government in other parts of the country.
Meantime, at least 4,500 terrorists have thus far been arrested in the province and legislation is on the anvil for action against them.
