Four get jail in Haj tour case

PESHAWAR - The Accountability Court Peshawar on Wednesday, while announcing its verdict in favour of a reference filed by NAB KPK, awarded 4-year rigorous imprisonment to each accused and a total fine of Rs 6.2 million to MD Nusratullah and Manager Nizarul Haq of Pak Harmain Travels and Tours Islamabad in a Haj affectees case. The accused persons obtained Rs 8.2 million from 113 persons on the pretext of sending them to perform Haj but were not sent for Haj. The affectees also included 65 teachers of University of Peshawar and their relatives.  Taking cognizance of the public complaints viz-a-viz cheating the public at large by the said Hajj Tours Operators, the NAB arrested the main accused Nasratullah and authorized formal investigation. After collection of sufficient evidence, a reference was filed which was decided in favour of NAB (KP) by Accountability Court No. 1 Peshawar on Wednesday.It is to be mentioned here that Rs 2.1 million recovered from the accused persons have already been distributed among the affectees.
