KARACHI - The Sindh High Court has upheld the verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that had disqualified Waheeda Shah for misconduct. The ECP disqualified Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate Waheeda Shah for two years for slapping a presiding officer Habiba Memon and other polling staff during the by-election on February 25 and declared the polls as void.

Waheeda challenged her disqualification from contesting by-polls for a provincial assembly seat, while a counter petition was also moved by the ECP against her acquittal by a Sessions court.
The court ordered for re-election in Waheeda Shah's constituency PS-53, Tando Mohammad Khan. Her counsel Hyder Imam Rizvi said the SHC ruling will be challenged in the Supreme Court.
