FAISALABAD - A distraught engineer of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) on Wednesday committed suicide after he did not receive his salary for three consecutive months.

Abdul Hameed, a Wasa engineer, who was living in a rented house, was upset as he had not received his salary for the last three months. Consequently, he could not arrange for the admission and uniform of his children, who were chucked out of their school. His body was sent to a hospital for post mortem. District Coordination Officer (DCO) said the causes involved in his death are being looked into, as a chit retrieved from his pocket clearly indicated that he was overly depressed for want of money. It is pertinent to note here that Abdul Hameed got one-month salary after three months; but, the amount was not enough for his needs that ultimately led him to commit suicide.
