PESHAWAR – Uzma Ayub, a gang rape victim, gave birth to a baby girl at a local hospital in Peshawar at 11:45 pm on Thursday night, sources said.
Bilqees Begum, the mother of Uzma, told media persons that Uzma was rushed to hospital while she was suffering pain, adding that she gave birth to a baby girl. She said both the mother and her child were in a stable condition. She said chairperson of a local non-governmental women rights organisation took away the baby from the hospital.  It is worth mentioning here that Uzma Ayub’s case was a high profile case of its nature due to the alleged involvement of local police officials in it, as they allegedly kidnapped and repeatedly raped her for one year. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti had directed for constituting an inquiry committee soon.
