Justice Javed-led commission to probe NAB officer’s death

ISLAMABAD – The government on Sunday appointed a judicial commission to probe death of a NAB investigation officer who was member of a team that investigated high-profile rental power projects (RPPs) corruption case.
Justice (r) Javed Iqbal will be the head of the commission that has been empowered to question anybody over the mysterious death of Kamran Faisal, who was stated to be quite tense after the recent developments in the RPPs case. The commission will submit its findings in two weeks.
Meanwhile, a report said that young officers in NAB have announced a strike from Jan 21 (today).
Days after Supreme Court ordered for arrest of 16 accused, including Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Asharaf, the investigator was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his Federal Lodges residence on Friday. Police claimed the death was a suicide and an initial post-mortem report supported it, but the family and friends suspecting it a murder demanded a judicial inquiry.
Kamran has been living in room No 1 of Federal Lodges since last year following his transfer from Quetta to Islamabad station.
