Angry mob ransacks TMA, GPO, ATM machines

KHANEWAL –The riots erupted after funeral of deceased Azhar, who was died with the firing of advisor to former Prime Minister Ahmad Yar Hiraj, PMQ MNA Hamid Yar Hiraj from their residence situated in civil-lines here the other night.
The mob ransacked the Mepco office, TMA office, Post office, City Police Station, Banks and ATM machines of banks.  They also set ablaze motorcycles, cars, office furniture and record.
According to details, funeral prayer of deceased Azhar Ali was held very late due to the protest of the people.
Former provincial minister and PML-N leader Haji Irfan Ahmad Khan Daha, was leading the protest rally. They were demanding for nominated FIR against Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj, Sardar Hamid Yar Hiraj, Nasir Hiraj and their guards.
After the assurance of DPO, funeral was offered in old Sabzi Mandi. Thousand of peoples in every walk of life attended the funeral.
Meanwhile, law and order situation became very worst and angry mob in shape of groups ransacked the TMA office, GPO, UBL ATM machines.  They set ablaze vehicles and officer record, furniture and other equipments, a motorcycle of policeman was also burnt.
On third day of the incident, there was again complete shutter down in the city. Grain market, vegetable and fruit market and other shopping plaza remained closed.
DPO Muhammad Waqar Abbasi said that nominated FIR no.350/12 under section 302,148/149 has been registered against Nasir Hiraj and 6 other unidentified gunmen.
District Bar Association also observed strike. DBA president Rana Jaffar Ali and other office bears assured solidarity with the family of the deceased and demanded with the district administration for registration of FIR against Ahmad Yar Hiraj and Hamid Yar Hiraj, and Nasir Hiraj.
The Police have registered FIR no.216/12 and 35/12 under section 148/149,16MPO, 353,186,379,436,395 against about 384 unidentified included 34 nominated people for ransacking and damaging government property and pelting stones on buildings.
A large number of residents of Makhdoompur and surrounding area also protested against the unscheduled loadshedding.  They attacked on the Makhoompur Police Station, The Police used tear gas to disburse the protesters.
The protester pelted stones on police.  Resultantly, dozen of peoples including cops were injured.  Makhdoompur Police have registered cases against protesters.
Meanwhile, DCO Nadeem Mahboob visited effected areas of the city along with other official of the district administration.  He ordered the authority concerned to arrange necessary steps to maintain law and order in the city.  He also urged the civil society, and renowned religious scholar to help district administration for restoration of peace in the city.
