At least five persons including a senior militants’ commander were killed in remote controlled bomb attack on a vehicle at Mana village, 15 kilometers west of Wana, the capital of South Waziristan, on Thursday.
According to political administration, unknown miscreants targeted a vehicle carrying five people with remote controlled bomb in Sholam area, tehsil Barmal of South Waziristan Agency.
As a result of blast the vehicle was destroyed completely resulting death of all five persons including militant Commander Ghulam Jan.
Political administration said that the militant commander was on his way to his house located in Marra when became victim of the attack.
The deceased commander was also wanted by Pakistani government in various cases.
South Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) which is rife with homegrown and foreign insurgents and is also alleged to be a stronghold of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda operatives.
The region is chiefly off-limits to reporters because of security concerns and government restrictions due to which reliable casualty figures are difficult to acquire from there.
