ISLAMABAD - The government on Monday raised price of petrol by Rs1.65 per litre, effective from today (Tuesday), in line with hike in global oil prices. The government cut price of petrol by Rs1.23/litre on December 22 last year. However, cost of petrol has now gone up from Rs101.42 to Rs103.07 per litre, registering an increase of Rs1.65. Prices of kerosene oil and jet fuel have also risen, whereas prices of other petroleum products, including High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Light Diesel Oil (LDO), have dipped, according to an announcement of the Petroleum Ministry. HSD, mostly used in the transport and agriculture sectors, has witnessed a decline of Rs0.92 per litre, with its price coming down to Rs109.21 from Rs110.13 per litre. Price of kerosene oil – vastly used as domestic fuel in remote areas, where liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is not available – has been hiked by Rs1.09 per litre. With this new raise, kerosene oil price will soar to Rs99.90/litre from Rs98.81 per litre. Last month, kerosene price was cut by Rs0.22 per litre.Price of light diesel oil (LDO), which is mainly used for industrial purposes, has fallen by Rs0.01 per litre, dropping to Rs94.33 per litre from Rs94.34 per litre. Likewise, price of JP-1 has gone up to Rs89.24 per litre from Rs88.04/litre, with an increase of Rs1.20 per litre. JP-4 price has been hiked by Rs1.54 per litre, elevating commodity price to Rs82.48 per litre from Rs80.94/litre. Price of JP-8 has also been enhanced from Rs87.72 per litre to Rs88.80 with an increase of Rs1.08 per litre.
