CHUNIAN - A local private school has fleeced as much as Rs1.1 million from 65 students giving attractive advertisements to get BEd/MEd degree from Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
The students and their parents on Tuesday protested in front of Chunian Press Club and demanded strict action against the deceivers. In fact, the university administration has said that the school was not affiliated with it neither it submitted the required fee.
Principal of the school had promised the students to earn them B Ed/M Ed degrees as a regular student without attending classes in the university. He had claimed that his school has affiliation with the university and students will not have to attend classes at the university. It was also promised that they will appear in the examinations in their respective districts and will not have to travel to Bahawalpur for exams.
However, when the roll number slips were issued, the examination centre was Bahawalnagar and out of sixty five, only fifty could manage to go to Bahawalnagar. Fifteen girls could not go their because of transportation and other issues and thus they lost their important year. The remaining fifty gave their exams on their own expenses and even spent thousands of rupees on transportation and residence.
But their miseries never end even after that. Now their result has been declared Fail and R.L. because the university has said that the said school was not affiliated with the university neither it submitted the required fee. The school just submitted their admission form as a private candidate and these students are not entitled to earn a degree until the required fee is not submitted.
While protesting outside the press club, the students alleged that operational manager of National Bank Chunian, Amanat Chishti and the principal jointly looted this money. When contacted, the principal and the NBP manager refused to comment on the issue.
