2 worshippers dead in Quetta bomb blast

QUETTA - At least two worshippers were killed and 14 others sustained serious injuries in a bomb blast inside a mosque in Ghausabad area of Quetta, on Thursday.
“Explosives were planted next to a pillar inside the Farooqia Mosque in Ghausabad area of the provincial capital which exploded as Asr prayers (evening) got underway,” a police official quoting eye-witnesses told TheNation, adding, a man was killed on the spot and 15 others received critical wounds. “Around 3,000 people were busy in offering prayers when the blast occurred,” police official said, adding, some people were also injured due to stampede.
Police and Frontier Corps personnel rushed to the site soon after the blast and cordoned off the area.
Rescue workers moved the deceased and injured to Civil Hospital Quetta where another injured succumbed to his wounds. The deceased were identified as Mohsin Shah, a resident of Haripur and Inayatullah.
“The condition of two injured is serious who have been moved to CMH for further treatment,” said officials at civil hospital. The blast also damaged the mosque and scattered its windowpanes.
According to the bomb disposables squad (BDS) around 8 to 10 Kg explosive material was used in the blast.
A case has been registered against the unidentified people and investigation is underway in the blast, however, police have not made any arrest in this connection.
It may be mentioned here that more than 22 people have been killed and dozens of others injured in three separate bomb blasts in Quetta in the month of June so far.
