LAKKI MARWAT - Three watchmen of government primary schools were found absent from duty when Station House Officers of Ghaznikhel and Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan Police Stations paid random visits to the educational institutions on Tuesday night.
He said SHO Ghaznikhel Police Station found Sher Daud and Mir Salam, watchmen of Government Primary School for Boys and Government Primary School for Girls, missing from night duty in Agari Khanzadkhel village. Similarly, Baqi Jan, a watchman of Government Primary School in Warghar Pezu was found absent when Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan’s SHO paid a visit to the school,” he told.
The official said that the District Police Officer sent a report regarding the absenteeism of watchmen to the local authorities of Elementary and Secondary Education Department for initiating disciplinary action against them.
Meanwhile, chairing a meeting in his office, DPO Gulzar Ali Khan directed the SHOs and subordinate police officials to use all possible measures for bringing improvement in law and order situation and accelerate action against non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles, narcotics sellers and criminal gangs. SP (Investigation) Idrees Khan, SDPO Naurang Sanaullah Khan, SDPO Lakki Ismail Khan, Circle Police Officer Sadullah Khan and officials from investigation and operation wings attended the meeting.
The DPO called for making all out efforts to stop entry of NCP vehicles to the district, warning that negligent SHOs will be taken to task.
He also underlined the need for improving the standard of investigation and said that investigation on modern and scientific lines would help to bring the criminals and anti social elements to justice.
In another meeting chaired by District Coordination Officer Nisar Ahmad in district council hall on Wednesday, the headmasters and principals of state-run middle, high and higher secondary schools were directed to ensure presence of watchmen on night duty in their respective schools.
Among others DPO Gulzar Ali Khan, HRDO Syed Khalid Israr Shah, ESED EDO Haji Meer Azam and DDO Rehmatullah Khan were in the attendance.
“The protection of the buildings of schools is the prime responsibility and basic duty of watchmen and any negligent on their part is intolerable”, DCO told the meeting.
He said that the watchmen of those schools targeted by militants would lose their jobs besides they would also face criminal investigation.
