Bid to blow Quetta-Sibi railway track foiled

QUETTA (APP) - The law-enforcement personnel foiled a bid to blow a Railway bridge under Quetta-Sibi Railway track on Thursday.
Station House Officer PS Satellite Town Quetta Muhammad Aslam told APP that unknown men had planted Improvised Explosive Device beneath the bridge under Quetta-Sibi Railway track near in Link Badini area in order to target Jaffar Express. “Soon after receiving intelligence information, police alongwith bomb disposal squad rushed to the site and defused the bomb,” the SHO said that according to Bomb Disposal Squad officials, the explosive device weighed over one kg.
Replying to another question, he said that Rawalpindi bound train Jaffar Express had to leave Quetta Railway Station; however, it was stopped soon after receiving information about the presence of explosives beneath the Railway bridge.
Later, the Jaffar Express left Rawalpindi.
The law-enforcement agencies have cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects.
A case has been registered against unknown accused and further probe was underway.
