Gas pipeline explodes in Jaffarabad

QUETTA - Unidentified persons exploded a main gas pipeline in Jaffarabad district on Sunday, suspending gas supply to several parts of Sindh and Balochistan.

According to reports, the explosives planted beneath an-18 inch diameter pipeline in Malguzar area of Jaffarabad exploded with a huge blast. As a result, a large portion of pipeline was destroyed that suspended gas supply to several parts of Sindh and Balochistan from Sui.
Sui Southern Gas Company’s (SSGC) General Manager, Haroon Rashid while confirming the incident said gas supply to several towns of Balochistan, including Quetta would be affected.  He ,however, said that SSGC would strive to ensure gas supply to domestic consumers of Quetta from alternative pipeline. SSGC officials said that the repair work of damaged pipeline would be started after getting security clearance and it would take at least three days to get it repaired.
