Unannounced loadshedding vexing masses

Duration of loadshedding in cities ranging 8-12 hours while 14-18 hours of power suspension in rural areas is causing immense problems for the masses during the holy month of Ramazan.

In fresh spate of protest demonstration in the Federal Capital on Monday saw three including SHO seriously injured as fierce protesters burned tyres and damaged public and private property at will.
Duration of loadshedding in cities ranged 8-12 hours while 14-18 hours of power suspension was done in rural areas, causing immense problems for the masses. Not only power outages, low pressure of natural gas during Sehr and Iftar time also irked the masses, dampening their spirit of Ramazan from the very beginning of the holy month.
Announced loadshedding has become a thing of the past too as officials of Lahore Electricity Supply Company (Lesco) continued to disconnect electricity of a particular area at their sweet will.
People in big cities including Lahore, Multan and other areas complained that despite promises, power supply during Sehr and Iftari times had not been smoothened. They added that Ramazan preparations had badly been affected due to electricity suspensions.
The shortfall of electricity had increased during Ramazan despite claims made by high ups.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while talking to a delegation in Green Town, Tent Office in Lahore said that energy crisis has badly affected industrial, trade, agriculture, education, health and other social sectors and the federal rulers will have to give up their loot, corruption and lavish expenditure and spend national resources on the projects of power generation so that the dying industries could be revived.
He said that people of Punjab are the main target of loadshedding due to which industrial and trade activities have slowed down while unemployment has increased in the province.
He further added that traders are the backbone of national economy but loadshedding especially during Ramadan is due to weak governance in this regard.
