Blast damages 4 shops, 2 power transformers

PESHAWAR - Four shops and two electricity transformers got damaged when an explosive device exploded in Peshtakhara Square, in the jurisdiction of Sarband Police Station on Friday. 
Sources said that unknown persons had planted some explosives near electricity pylons, which went off with a big bang causing fear and panic among the masses. The blast damaged two transformers, four shops and some portion of a local hotel. Soon after the incident, police and bomb disposal unit rushed towards the site and collected evidences. According to bomb disposal unit, around three-kilogramme explosive was used in this terrorist activity.
Police said that search was under way and soon the responsible elements would be rounded up. Sirband Police registered FIR against unknown persons and started further investigation.
Meanwhile, police exchanged fire with alleged kidnappers on Frontier Road when the latter were attempting to kidnap some person from Badhabera area. Police said the alleged kidnapers exchanged fire with them for several minutes, however no human loss was reported. The kidnapers after firing on police and Frontier Constabulary made their escape towards restive Khyber Agency.
