SHEIKHUPURA - The office-bearers of Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCC&I) and Central Traders Association at a joint meeting on Friday threatened to besiege the grid station if the government and the Wapda authorities did not issue a loadshedding schedule in the district.
It was disclosed by SCC&I President Amjad Nazir Butt while chairing a meeting. A large number of traders including Haji Ghulam Nabi Virk, Abdul Sattar Bhatti, Wajid Bukhari, Hamid Sheikh, Rana Ashraf, Haji Ramzan, Rana Akram, Ayub Sheikh and Sh Yaqoob were also present on the occasion.
He pointed out that the worst outages had almost crippled 90 per cent of the industry in the district. Subsequently a large number of workers have become unemployed which has been pushing the society towards an alarming stage,” he argued.
The SCC&I president stated that the country was grappling with worst energy crisis solely due the poor planning for generating electricity while the federal government appeared to have least concerned with resolving the masses problems. He said the industrial sector in Punjab was facing serious setback and the authorities concerned were apparently seemed hell-bent on destroying the industry in the province.
He demanded the government to take stock of the bleeding wounds of industrial sector in Punjab and take remedial steps to mitigate the sufferings.
