Kausar directs for accelerating efforts to control power crisis

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor, Barrister Masood Kaussar has advised the Pesco to further accelerate their efforts not only to ensure better management of electricity supply to consumers but also to generate public support and cooperation in meeting with the challenge of shortfalls in an amicable way.
Talking during a briefing on electricity supply and demand situation in the province at Governor’s House, Peshawar, Friday, the governor said, “the shortfall of electricity supply in the given situation is beyond doubt a big challenge, which does demand extra efforts to promote awareness, educate people and mobilise all available means for protection and safety of installations and control consumption of energy resources too.
Chief Executive Pesco Engr Abdul Latif Khan briefed the governor about the prevailing state of supply and demand of electricity in the province. The provincial Minister for Finance, Engr Muhammad Hamayun Khan was also present on this occasion.
The governor particularly mentioned the importance of water supply schemes and said unhindered and constant supply of water has to be ensured by putting extra efforts and applying efficient management of techniques for the supply electricity. The options for applying alternate means of energy resources, he said, can also be good options for which the concerned quarters need to be mobilised as well.
Talking on a point regarding theft and line losses of electricity, the governor said there was also a need to educate the people and make them award of the severe consequences of this negative practice as well. The role of elected representatives in seeking cooperation of the consumers, he added, is also of great importance in this connection as well.
