ISLAMABAD - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman withdrew his nomination for the slot of prime minister at the eleventh hour and announced remaining  impartial.
He  announced this in the National Assembly ahead of the polling for the new prime minister.
JUI chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman told Nawa-i-Waqt that he took decision of withdrawal to strength democracy.
“Though the pace of democratic process is slow but we wanted it to continue.”
He added: “When various political parties disagreed to my nomination for the slot of Prime Minister, I deliberately withdrew my name.”
He said his party has always worked for the national interest and he will continue to do so. Laying stress on unity, the JUI chief said unity is the need of the hour as the county has been facing many challenges.
He said that political parties had made many mistakes in the past and these should not be repeated, JUI had always worked for the national interest, and it had come forward to resolve the current issues in the country and to unite all political parties under one roof to face the challenges.
He added that the need of the time was to make Pakistan into a strong and united entity and defeat the hidden forces that were working to harm the country, he warned everyone not to let them be successful in their nefarious moves.
Answering a question he said “We wanted the opposition to unite and thus gave our name as prime minister nominee. This was done to save democracy and the nation.”
