QUETTA - Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai will take oath as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan on Saturday (today).Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani and Opposition Leader Nawabzada Tariq Magsi agreed to the name of Barozai for the slot of interim chief minister on Thursday.
Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi will administer oath to Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai at the governor’s house. The event will be attended among others by Aslam Raisani, ex-ministers, former legislators and government officials. The formation of the interim cabinet is also expected after the caretaker chief minister takes oath. Barozai has vowed that the interim cabinet will be formed on merit and announced soon. He said he would strive to ensure transparent and timely elections in the provinces besides making efforts to maintain law and order during this interim setup.
Chief Minister Aslam Raisani has expressed the hope that the interim cabinet of Balochistan will be announced soon after consulting the opposition.
On the other hand, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-F has decided to withdraw its application filed in the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Balochistan High Court restoring Nawabzada Tariq Magsi as the opposition leader. The Balochistan High Court had cancelled nomination of former senior provincial minister Maulana Abdul Wasay of JUI-F as the opposition leader. The JUI-F went to the SC against the BHC order. However, after consensus on the caretaker chief minister, the JUI-F decided to withdraw its application from the apex court.
