Petroleum Ministry seeks security for working IP gas pipeline

ISLAMABAD - Feeling security threat during the construction of 781km Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has sought security from the Ministry of Interior to avoid any untoward incident.
Sources said that the Petroleum Ministry through a letter to the Interior Ministry asked for providing foolproof security as construction of IP gas pipeline in Pakistan’s side without security was impossible due to volatile situation in Balochistan province.
Owing to poor law and order situation in Balochistan province, staff of Iranian Tadbir Energy and Pakistani companies are facing difficulties so deployment of Frontier Corps (FC) prior to the commencement of work on laying gas pipeline in Pakistan’s portion have become imperative, sources added.
It is also learnt that the Ministry of Interior will ensure security while Iranian Tadbir Energy will bear all expenses of FC for ensuring security on the route of IP gas pipeline.
The construction of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline will be completed before the stipulated time of December 2014.
