ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court has allowed Jamshed Dasti, who last week resigned from the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), to hire counsel in his review petition against disqualification over holding fake degree.
Dasti, a PPP leader from Muzaffargarh, had to resign in 2010, when he was failed to reply some basic questions asked by a Supreme Court bench pertaining to Islamic Education as he had shown a shahadatul Aalmiya Madrassa degree.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany heard the review petition of PPP MNA Jamshaid Dasti, filed against the decision of Election Commission for disqualifying him.
In 13th March 2013 Jamshed Dasti was summoned. Justice Jillani inquired from Jamshaid Dasti why he had approached the court after 954 days. Instead of reply to the bench query he requested that some time be given to him to engage the lawyer. Upon that the case was adjourned for indefinite period.
