PESAHWAR – Eid shopping has picked up its pace and shopkeepers in various bazaars of the provincial metropolis have started recording increased sale despite high prices. The stallholders selling henna, cosmetics, earrings, glittering bangles and coluorful dresses are being established in front of illuminated shopping malls and various corners of the city to attract female visitors. All this combined with jubilation among the women and girls is developing day by day as they are thronging different markets and Sasta Bazaars. Shoppers are roaming the markets, checking out the latest in designs and gift items. Traders, who are waiting for the years biggest shopping time, say sales have peaked at both retail and wholesale also due to the arrival of winter seasons. Girls especially find some moments while buying bangles, garments, gifts, shoes and other accessories despite overcharging by the shopkeepers. Due to the pressing demands of children, most of parents reluctantly visit markets for shopping, as overcharging was on rise. There has been an increase of 30 to 50 per cent in prices of all commodities including, boats has been increased to great extent and it is impossible for low income people to cope with this situation, said Sultanat Khan, who was buying boats from a market. The shopkeepers have displayed a variety of things, particularly new designs of clothes and shoes. A small number of people have already completed their Eid shopping in Eidul Fitr but due to the arrival of winter season along with Eid-u-Azha people are more interested in fresh stuff of garments. The elder, young or children, all wish to wear new clothes and shoes on this auspicious occasion. The sale of ladies and children garments has hit a record of about 30 percent increase during this season as compared to last years at different shopping centers and markets in twin cities.The owners and staff of the outlets said as compare to last year during Eid-ul-Azha sale of readymade garments recorded some 20 percent increase. This Eidul Azha noticed increased sale of ladies and children varieties.It is worth mentioning here that as compare to male large rushed of women customers have been observed in Saddar, University Road as well as Khyber Bazaar and Qissa Khwani Bazaar. The shopkeepers were of the view that as compare to male customers woman customer are difficult to deal due to their rigid stance at the time of price fixing mechanism. Junaid Iqbal from Malakand adds: Eid shopping has gained momentum in Malakand as the festivity is nearing. The people of Malakand are going to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with full zeal as Sunat Abrahami. The last week of Zel Hajj has got started. In every cattle Mandi the prices of sacrifices animals are too high this is out of the reach of poor people.
