QUETTA – Scores of activists of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal on Saturday staged a demonstration outside the Press Club, condemning the killing of political leaders and workers in targeted attacks.

Carrying placards and banners, the protesters chanted slogans, “stop murder of Baloch leaders and activists; recover missing persons”.
Addressing the protesting workers, BNP-M acting chief Dr Jahanzaib Jamaldini, Aghan Hassan Advocate and Ghulam Nabi Marri, condemned the killings of political workers and activists in Balochistan.
“More than 14,000 political activists, picked up by state functionaries, had been languishing in torture cells while hundreds of bodies had so far been recovered,” they alleged.
They also condemned the killing of party’s Khuzdar leader Obaid Baloch, saying he had been killed for just raising his voice for the legitimate rights of the Balochs.
“Backed by Islamabad, his killers are roaming with impunity,” the BNP-M leaders said, adding that under a well-knitted plan, the secular state of Balochistan was being pushed towards extremism and radicalism. “The Baloch nation is a liberal and progressive nation. It has nothing to do with sectarian killings.”
