Honour killings turn out to be targeted murders

LARKANA – The killing of a woman and her daughter for honour in Noorpur village of Dokri tehsil have turned to be a targeted one, as it had been revealed that the station house officer of the Badah Police Station was in cahoots with the assassin.

According to reports, the SHO allegedly took Rs 0.2 million gratification from Sikander Gadhi – the brother-in-law of Nusrat and uncle of Parveen.
It had been found that Nusrat, spouse of Manzoor Ahmed Gadhi, who had been working abroad, along with her daughter, had left her house on pressure from Sikander Gadhi and over fears of false allegations from the Bhand community in Dadu.
Later, Sikander Gadhi, patronised by local influential leaders and a landlord, brought the woman and her daughter back in order to kill them as per their plan.
On September 16, Sikander Gadhi said to be an addict killed Nusrat bring false charges against her. Prior to that, Parveen went missing. However, it was later proved that the girl had been brutally tortured and sexually assaulted before being killed two days ago.
Earlier, over the suspicion that she was having illicit relations, Sikander Gadhi married her to a child, namely Ayaz Ali.
It was a conspiracy, sources say while adding that Sikander Gadhi was not arrested after the murder of Nusrat, whose husband had been employed in Saudi Arabia. They further say that the SHO was a part of the dual murder.
Civil society representatives meanwhile condemned the killings, and held the SSP responsible for the increasing incidents of violence against women in Larkana. Zulfikar Rahoojo, Irfan Hyder, M. Panjal Khan Sangi, Mohammed Aslam and others demanded SSP Javed Jiskani to order an inquiry into the dual murder.
Moreover, the SSP has dismissed seven police constables over negligence and breaching information about raids to recover two kidnapped girls.
According to a statement, constables Barkat Ali Khokhar, Aijaz Ali Khokhar, Mir Muhammad Khokhar, Safdar Ali Khokhar, Mashooque Ali Khokhar, Rajib Ali Khokhar, Ali Haider Khokhar have been dismissed from services.
On last Sunday, six men from the Khokhar community barged into the house of Ashraf Ali Bhutto and took captive Humaira Khokhar and Kiran in Baggi village near Moe-Jo-Daro Randhan Road.
