Dist authorities given magistracy powers in Balochistan

QUETTA – The Government of Balochistan has assigned district authorities with magistracy powers to check prices of edible items and hood winking besides dispossession of government land under prevalent laws.
In a handout of Balochistan home department issued here, it has been declared that all deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners (Revenue) and assistant commissioners have been assigned first class magistrate powers under CrPC that will help general public get edible items on control price besides to check hoodwinking and profiteering in the province. It said that all the officers having magistracy powers would send profiteers and hood winkers to prison for three months or imposing a fine of Rs. 5,000 or award both. These officers have been
strictly directed to implement prevalent laws and take strict action against those violating these laws.
In another announcement all deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners (Revenue) and assistant commissioners have been assigned the powers of summary trial under Local Government Act of 2010 to award six month imprisonment or fine of Rs. 10,000 or both for the violation of crimes listed in schedule III. It said that it will help implement the civic laws affectively and people's matters would easily be resolved.
In third announcement, all deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners (Revenue) and assistant commissioners have been empowered under Government Land and Building (Recovery of Possession) Ordinance 1966 to vacate state property. The special powers would help government take action against land grabbers besides take the possession of state property and discouraging the grabbers.
