Dr Asim quits Senate seat

ISLAMABAD- Adviser to Prime Minister on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain on Tuesday tendered resignation from his Senate seat. Though reasons for Dr Asim’s resignation could not be ascertained immediately, sources stated that the adviser resigned from the Upper House seat due to unconfirmed reports over his dual nationality.
On September 20th, the Supreme Court ruled that 11 lawmakers holding dual nationalities were not eligible to hold any public offices and declared all such lawmakers as disqualified.
It ordered the disqualified lawmakers to return the amount spent on their salaries and perks. Acting Chairman Senate, Sabir Baloch accepted Dr Asim’s resignation, sources said.
