ISLAMABAD - PTI Chairman Imran Khan swept the online Asia's Person of the Year 2012 reader poll conducted by Asia Society. Founded in 1956 by John D Rockefeller-III, Asia Society is a non-partisan, non-profit institution with its headquarters in New York. It is a leading educational organisation dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context.

According to the final results of online poll, Imran Khan whizzed past everyone else by securing 87.78 per cent online votes, Pakistani child activist Malala Yousafzai 3.29 per cent, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi 1.98 per cent and Indian film actor Aamir Khan 1.81 per cent.
Khan's huge lead was hard to catch up with by any other candidate. At final tally, Khan had more than 11,000 votes, 88 per cent of the total. At the heart of this success are the extremely passionate, empowered, people who follow Imran Khan as a duty to their country. These are individuals who are empowered to do their bit for the cause and feel this is their contribution toward Pakistan. Although the results of the poll reflect the political leader's online popularity, this will be a strong tool to motivate voters to come out to vote.
