UR (AJK) Criticising PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr said that those groomed in the laps of the dictators have started targeting President Zardari, armed forces and intelligence agencies.
He was addressing a public rally at Islamgarh in the outskirt of Mirpur late Thursday in connection with the election campaign of PPP AJK candidate Abdul Majeed contesting scheduled June 26 elections from LA-II Mirpur constituency.
The congregation, which was attended by thousands of people, was also addressed by former Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, Baitul Maal Pakistan Chairman Zamurd Khan, President Jammiat Ulema-e-Jammu Kashmir Atiqur Rehman Faizpuri, Advisor to the Chairman AJK Council/Prime Minister of Pakistan Mrs Shazia Akber, Shaukat Raja Advocate, Mian Sultan Mahmood Advocate and others. Central leader of ruling Muslim Conference Haji Zulfiqar chaired the meeting.
Badr vowed the partys resolve to continue struggling for the accomplishment and safeguard of the due rights of the people of Pakistan and AJK despite all odds and hostile attitude of the opponents, the remnants of Martial laws and the dictatorial regimes.
Badr said that Abdul Majeed was the symbol of democracy and the freedom of Kashmir besides a man of dignity and honour. He did not ever beg nor bow before any one and he always remained successful in all hours of trial. He said that a revolutionary change is coming soon in Azad Jammu Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of Abdul Majeed.
He continued that PPP reached to serve the nation and the country after passing through and facing fires and blood. He said that no power on earth could place hurdle in the way of PPP-led government from serving the nation.
Addressing the rally, former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that incumbent AJK Legislative Assembly offered the Prime Minister-ship of AJK to Ch. Abdul Majeed twice through constitutional way, but he (Majeed) declined the offer declaring that he would like to come into the office of premiership through the support of masses. Kaira criticised Nawaz Sharif for airing mud-slinging against the top leadership of PPP and the armed forces of Pakistan during the recent visits to AJK. He said that Sharif shall have to face the penalty in form of a convincing defeat in June 26 AJK elections. He said that necessary steps shall have to be taken to bridle the opposition leader in the parliament including Nawaz Sharif. Kaira questioned why Sharifs were today silent over the major issue of terrorism being faced by the nation and the country at present.
Addressing the rally PPP AJK chief and the partys candidate Abdul Majeed said that a revolution in AJK was awaited as a result of the landslide victory of PPP in June 26 AJK general elections.
Majeed said that all was set for PPP to emerge as the single majority party with over 2/3 of the total seats of 49-member AJK Legislative Assembly as a result of the land slide victory in June 26 polls. He said that the forthcoming popularly-elected democratic PPP government in AJK will focus for making the Kashmir freedom movement complete success besides for redressing the grievances of the common man with a prime focus to ameliorate the life style of people across AJK without any discrimination.
