SARGODHA - Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Food Mansha Ullah Butt said that 80 percent of wheat procurement in Punjab had been completed. He claimed that the total target of 3.5 million metric tonnes will be achieved till May 30.

He expressed these views while talking to the media persons at Asianwala wheat purchase centre here on Wednesday. He said that three food inspectors had been suspended while eight other officials had been served show-cause notices for maladministration and misbehave with wheat growers.
The advisor to CM also said that according to the vision of CM Shahbaz Sharif, small growers had been given preference in the on-going wheat procurement drive. He lamented that worst power outages-driven hike in the pesticides, prices of fertilizers and low ratio of rains had caused decline in wheat yield as compare to the previous years. Deputy Director Syed Arif Raza Bukhari, District Food Controller Qazi M Ishaq, Assistant Food Controller Sheikh Shaheen Tariq, Food Inspector Ch Muhammad Shakoor, Food Grain Supervisor M Zafar Gondal and others were present on the occasion.
