PESHAWAR - Militants damaged a bridge by blowing it up with explosive material near Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar on Wednesday.
Police said that explosive material was planted near the bridge and was exploded by the unidentified militants.
The explosion rocked the nearby buildings and large number of people came out of their houses in panic. However, no casualty was reported. Police reached the site soon after the incident and started investigation.
According to bomb disposal squad, it was a minor explosion and some 500 gram explosives were used in the attack.
Police said that the blast partially damaged the bridge.
The area is a strong hold of the Awami National Party and the provincial headquarter of the party, the Bacha Khan Markaz, is also located there.
However, the police could not determine whether the real target of the militants was the bridge or the Bacha Khan Markaz.
