LAHORE–A full bench of the Lahore High Court will hear the contempt of court petition against President Asif Ali Zardari on Sep 27 for not shunning political activities despite the court’s order. The bench would be headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and include Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh, Sheikh Najamul Hasan, Ijazul Ahsan and Syed Mansoor Ali Shah as its members. The petition was moved by Munir Ahmad through Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique and Advocate AK Dogar against the President for holding political office and activities in violation of LHC verdict issued in May 2011. The case was adjourned for indefinite period owing to national holiday on Sep 21. On Monday, the petitioner requested through a civil miscellaneous application the court to fix the contempt petition for early hearing. The chief justice accepted the request and directed the Registrar office to fix for hearing the contempt petition on Sep 27 before the full bench.
