Govt initiates draft to prevent forced conversion

ISLAMABAD  – The government has forwarded the draft bill regarding forced conversion of religion and marriage to all concerned parties but no response has been received yet.
This was briefed to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on National Harmony, which met on Monday in the parliament house under the chairmanship of its head Dr Mahesh Kumar Mallani. A member of the committee, Dr Kathumal Jeevan said on the occasion that the funds of Evacuee Trust might be utilized on the education of minorities youth, instead of using on seminaries.
He criticized admonition of Evacuee Trust for disbursing it land on through-away prices. The high ups of Evacuee Trust told the meeting the 2,442 hector of land owned by the organization has been given on lease while the income of the trust is used on the welfare of poor.
They said that the Evacuee Trust has a budget of one billion rupees, whereas a sum of Rs 268 million is being spent on the maintenance of worship places belong to minorities.
